Thank you so much for all of these ideas. I’m SUPER excited to try them out with my 1 and 3 year old girls tomorrow. They’re going to freak! This totally helps time pass during this quarantine.

He will fill a bucket with random objects for groceries, dump it on a giant box for the the conveyor, scan them with a little keychain flashlight, and have me pay with an old gift card or hotel key card. He came up with it all by himself. Sometimes he wants to use coins instead too.

He also likes baking soda, vinegar and food colors. I set him up a tray with the supplies and a couple old medicine droppers and he’ll play forever.

Another hit around here we call “object puzzles.” I’ll trace the outlines if random objects and have him find the matches. We make it tricky by tracing things sideways or upside down or doing shapes with duplos where he has to put pieces together to make the shape. Making them is a test for the parent’s creativity too!
