Aside from the nutritional aspect, you also have to consider whether you, or your kids, will eat it. Whole grain means the entire kernel of the grain was used to make the flour. This means there are more nutrients like vitamins and minerals, protein, fiber, etc. Bread made with refined flour means part of the grain most of the grain processed out and you can lose things like fiber and nutrients (although they are often added back in).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-1cd9242f4dfa2312c694598ab064e5dc\" style=\"color:#fbfbfb;background-color:#52804d\">Mom hack: Look for the word <strong>WHOLE<\/strong> as the first ingredient. This is important! <strong>Just because it says wheat flour does not mean WHOLE wheat flour was used<\/strong>. Also, consider whether you&#8217;ll be eating one slice or two and check how many slices the info on the nutrition label is for. Sometimes the nutrition label info is per slice and sometimes it&#8217;s for a serving size of 2 slices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-efac4a99cf542161855c3df609ee3f07\" style=\"color:#ffffff;background-color:#52804d\"><strong>Mom tip: Some brands have varieties that have 4-5 grams of added sugar per slice. Look for one that&#8217;s low in sodium and added sugar and higher in fiber if you can find it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Something like Brownberry Oat Nut is white in appearance but has 4 grams protein and 2 grams fiber per slice, which is good&#8230;but it also has 3 grams of added sugar per slice. So there are a lot of factors to consider!
